Student Chapter of ACCP Forming at University of Mississippi

ACCP recently authorized the formation of student chapters, one of which is being formed at the University of Mississippi.

The student chapters are intended

  1. To familiarize students with the field of clinical pharmacy by providing information about careers and opportunities within the field of clinical pharmacy; promoting dedication to excellence in patient care, research, and education; and encouraging the professional development necessary to function within an interdisciplinary team.
  2. To advocate for the role of clinical pharmacists in providing direct patient care, including evaluation of the patient and his or her pharmacotherapeutic needs; initiation, modification, or discontinuation of patient-specific pharmacotherapy; and ongoing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and follow-up.
  3. To encourage participation in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy at the national level and in local/regional chapters.

The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy Student College of Clinical Pharmacy is in the process of making final arrangements to apply for formal recognition from ACCP.

The Mississippi College of Clinical Pharmacy welcomes the student chapter and looks forward to partnering with them on future activities.
